What Local Guides means to me: A story of the man in the middle.

I joined the Local Guides program a few years ago and quite obviously, it has made my job as a Software Developer a lot more fun and valuable. In a little way, I often like to think of myself as the middle man doing the little he can to link businesses and their potential customers, and sometimes flatter myself imagining it a little like a dance coach trying to show a couple how to work their feet in a Salsa dance.

On my job, adding map services on websites for my clients is usually important. Putting their business on the map often means more brand exposure for them. I love to see their faces light up in excitement the moment they see their offices on the map and get to know one can find directions to their location. Of course, things get more interesting when people start adding a review or question about their business because it means more people are getting to know their services. For me, seeing that joy and satisfaction in my clients is invaluable.

Me and friends at Freedom Park, one of the favorite places on my list.

Another thing I find pleasure in, is leaving a review about places I have good knowledge of, knowing it helps others get better information on those places. I understand the little pieces of detail I provide could very much be the difference between a fun-filled outing and, well, an awkward one. For me, it’s all about providing enough information for one to make an appropriate choice. After-all, every dancer wants to know enough moves to make a beautiful dance.

Hi @Vector4u ,

It seems that you’ve shared a post for your Connect Live 2020 application. Keep in mind, one of the requirements is to share your post on Local Stories, so I’ve moved your post there, thanks.

Feel free to have a look at the application guidelines and find some handy tips for creating an application post.

A million thanks I did read the guidelines and honestly thought I had tapped on Local Stories when creating the post. Must have missed something I guess. But I’m quite grateful to you. Thanks again @AlexaAC .
