I love visiting new places, particularly local restaurants, cafes and hotels. As an avid traveller, whenever I go, I always look at the reviews on Google, particularly those made by other fellow local guides. When deciding to visiting a place for a meal for example, it is great to have the confidence that you are making the right choice by having access to what other people who have visited the same place have experienced. I have been able to visit small, hidden but unbelievable good gems in cities like Paris, Rome, Delhi, New York, Sydney and so many others only thanks to what locals have written and described about them. The local guides programme has given us all the incredible opportunity to share details about the local shops, local restaurants and so on, small businesses owned by hard working people that have no budget for any advertisement but, just by giving a great service with good prices are having a massive positive impact on the community. This is great and something well worth celebrating. This programme gives the confidence to know that the place you will be visiting is a great place based on the experience that others have shared. The best example are these photos of this great burger restaurant in Melbourne that had the best possible kangaroo and crocodile burgers that you can ever have!
Also, I am a very visual person and I love to see photos. So, whenever I go, I love to take as many photos as I can of the places and upload them to Google, so people like me can grasp and get the best possible idea about how great the place, the decoration and sometimes even the menu, so they can visit with the best possible understanding and knowledge about the place. This is my way of giving back and contributing to this great community!
