What Local Guide Program means to me: Sharing, Helping, Fun and privilege

Hello everyone. I am a local guide from Myanmar. It’s been three years since I became a Google local guide. During all these three years, I have been enjoying to take photos and post them on Google Map.

At first, my brother and I gave ratings and reviews on the restaurants, shops and other places around our town. And we had a competition between us. As Google distinguished its local guides into different levels, we competed to get more points so that we can move to the next level.

So, I think it is really good that Google Local Guides can achieve badges and can reach to the new level. By that way, local guides just like us want to get more and more points and badges.

Being a local guide, I have chance to share my different feelings towards different places. When I find a shop or a restaurant is very good or bad, I can share my feelings with others and can let the owners know about the strength or weakness of their shops or restaurants.

As I live in a town since I was young, I did not know most of the places in Yangon, our capital city. So, Google Map became an essential app for me to find places I want to go in Yangon. I can see photos and facts of a place before I go personally. So, I started posting photos and reviewing on Google Map because I know that I can help people just like me through Google Map.

I like to take photos since I was young, so, it is a fun for me to take photos and share these photos with others. I am also happy to see my local guide points increasing day by day and finally, reaching to a new level. I also love to spend my time seeing photos and reviews of other local guides. I am happy whenever I find out that my post is helpful for someone.

Some people come to me if they want a certain place to be appeared on Google Map. At such time, I am really happy to help them and I share them how easily they can also become local guides. I am proud that I have chance to connect with Google and many other local guides all around the world. I feel that I am not like an ordinary person because I made my way to be a person under Google’s community. For me, all of these are the privileges of being a local guide.

As a saying goes ‘Sharing is Caring’, I believe our sharing are of great assistance to many people around the world. In short, I just want to say that Google Local Program fills the gap of my life.
