The google local guide! What does it mean to me?
Watching YouTube videos, sending mails on Gmail, using maps to commute; This is my Bermuda triangle! I get lost here hahaha.
The google maps is the service I use daily. It’s always amazing to share my experience with people around there and save their time, money and sometimes taste buds.
What inspired me?
While watching the YouTube vlogs about scams and tourist traps, I thought of helping these people and that’s where local guide program helped me! The local hotel owner social media management to generate fake reviews about his not so good hotel. Guess what? I went,stayed and posted real picture and reviewed. And unknowingly, it was a hit and got 100 K views on my photo ! Huge milestone!
Similar to above case, I posted hygiene and food quality related review about a local restaurant on maps and people appreciated that too.
I felt happy because I made someone save money and their quality time by just few words with proofs.
How local guide helped me with the unexplored?
When you get that long weekend in your busy work life, you always want to max it out, right?
It’s about the time when I visited solo to the Party State of India ,Goa . I wanted to just be me, enjoy cold beach breeze, drink some cocktails and feel relaxed. But like the sheep in the herd, I got advice from some people and I visited a famous beach. I was disappointed with amount of crowd, noise and uncleanliness. Right after, I opened google maps and searched for unexplored places. Came to know about a beach, not visited by many because of poor road condition towards. So I got on my rented bike and drove 2 hours for that place and guess what!! The beach with beautiful pink sunset blew my mind away! It was exactly how they show in Hollywood movies!
Google has telekinesis
I strongly feel that google has telekinesis!
Few months ago, based on other local guide’s suggestions, I thought of visiting a lakeside for night camping! As it was in another city, i hopped onto my motorbike. Drove some 50 miles and then it clicked to me that i was on No two wheeler zone. While paying fine to the police, i ended up thinking that google maps should have had feature to tell that it is no bike’s zone and voila! Within two month, google maps came with an update of bike mode!
This is Telekinesis! Or like Ross Geller would say, “Unagi!” This bike mode helped me alot to explore more and increase my local guide level on google 
Local Guide perks?
Well, honestly saying , as i local guide on google, I did not expect anything in return, because I was just happy to see people loving my suggestions. But from google I got funky socks pair, 6 months of extra google drive storage, 45% off at local hotel chain and what not! Unknowingly, this helped me in working more and more for community and I achieved 250K views milestone,100k photo view,s 100+reviews milestone and lots of love!
