What Local Guide means to me: Never Ending Learning & Experience Sharing

Every discipline in Asian culture is an endless learning path. Not only a physical activity, it will also cover the most of your life. Like Japanese Martial Arts; Ju-DO, Teakwan-Do , Aiki-Do; and Chinese Martial arts : wushu, kung fu.

Kendo … do you know what “do” means?

Do means, A way, a discipline … and the school is where you practice martial arts is called DoJo.

In our case, Kendo is Local Guides and dojo is Local Guides Connect.

You step up during you martial arts career 1st Dan, 2nd Dan… 8th Dan in Kendo.

It is the same for being a Local Guide: Level1, Level2, Level3, Level3… Level10.

The aim is not to have the higher reputation for the hierarchy; it is about sustainability of your involvement and your contribution.

In Kendo, at your very first weeks, you just learn to walk (suri ashi) you do it for one hour. You do the same things even you are higher degree.

I try to walk in first weeks as everybody does. I tried but I couldn’t do properly.

And the teacher, sensei came , sit down and held my foot by his hands. He shaped my foot in a correct way and say that you should do like this. “I was completely shocked at time :astonished: And he also told me about hiswalking experience` when he started kendo. I was shocked, because He wasn’t paid for that to shape my foot in a correct way. He was just doing by heart. He just wanted to share what he knows the best and of course I rely on teachers/ my sensei’s expertise to do it on his way.

Isn’t that the same for Local Guides Program?

Yes, it is. Exactly, the way we do in Local Guides; we share – we tell – we explain for someone around the world you never met. And all of from Local Guides’ heart.

That is why I local guides: Everyone trusts each other and rely on other local guide’s knowledge and experience. Only family members (mother father brother or sister) could do this without money, any ego or proud.

I hope we all continue to involve and contribute on Local Guides as a Never-Ending Learner,

Thanks for reading & thank you for your time
