The Local Guide program seems super enthusiastic.
When I arrived in Buenos Aires five years ago, I didn’t have many friends or know places.
When I started touring the city I was looking for a way to know a little more about nearby places. For this reason, I tried to read references on internet, but not all of them had since many ancient or historical places are not well known or visited.
That’s how I downloaded the Google map app and started looking for places, so I saw that there were many people trying to help others in their same situation, and I found myself identified with them.
That way I began to change my habits, before going to any place, I checked what it was, where it was located, neighborhood, prices, what services they offered. And I also realized that most of owners began to give importance to the reviews that customers leave. So it’s a great way to get mutual feedback between customers and owners.
This enrichment of opinions, photos and scores is also very important for tourist places, since it serves both local residents and those who are tourists. It is excellent for discovering the city, even helps tourists to know where and how to move.
This has totally changed the way I see my city or others that I visit, since I see everything through the eyes of Google, which is like using a filter of people with good intentions trying to help.
I have made friends around the world, whom I could help with some advice and have trusted their good advice on different cities. I have learned from other Local Guides and this is also very enriching.
This year I went to meet up on Google for the first time and I was fascinated by everything about it, the offices, people working there and especially other guys who do the same as Local Guides, in an excellent environment of trust.
I have my own lists, and I have been changing about the criteria to create them, but finally I have remained to divide them by cities and themes. One of the most used is “Want to go”, constantly reviewing it. So…
I look forward to meeting many people in California and continuing to share this beautiful experience.
Best regards.
Fede.-
