Today is World Tourism Day and if there is something I have discovered in my wanderings is that just as they say that every head is a different world, every tourist has its own style. While there are those who prefer sun and beach, there are those who opt for snow and mountains. When some want peace and relaxation, others seek adrenaline and adventure…
I am the one who asks, the one who talks, the one who observes, the one who tastes. It doesn’t matter if I go to a destination for hours or days, more than a go/leave tourism, I try to take in my head valuable information not only about the place per se, but also about its people, its customs and traditions, its history, its identity… its culture.
Celebrated annually across the world on September 27, this year World Tourism Day is more relevant as it addresses the importance of tourism sector in providing jobs and opportunities, mostly for women and youth, in rural as well as big cities amid the Covid-19. The day also highlights the unique role of tourism sector in preserving cultural and natural heritage all around the world apart from being a leading employer and economic pillar.
