What I've learned in my 2 years as a local guide

I’m Kev a level 7 Local Guide from UK. After 2 years of being a Local Guide and sharing information and photos with the world I realised I’ve learned many things about how I use Google Maps and what people find useful in my content and reviews.

Much of my posting is actually while on vacation and travelling. It’s easy for me as we often take many pictures and talk about how our hotel/meal was, so why not share that with the world. When at home, I’m often update local store opening hours and when stores close/open, which is a frequently changing space in UK high streets. I want to remove the unecessary trips where stores are closed, and help people find what they’re looking for faster, so they can enjoy more of life. I use Google Maps to help get advice and if needed visuals of where I’m going, so when I’m there I feel like a local, whether that’s in USA, India, Africa or home.

So my advice to all, keep sharing key info and if you have that moment of “oh I wish someone told me that store was shut, restaurant was overhyped/amazing” then share that with Google Maps to help others… as they’re helping you too!

Hi @KevMacUK

This post is your Connect Live 2019 application and these application posts should have been in Local Stories. Because I do believe your post fits best into that category I am moving it there.

Hi @KevMacUK ,

I’ve noticed that your post have a German language label, so I removed it. If you want to know more about the language labels I recommend you to read the article How do I find posts in my preferred language?
