All of us love to join meetup or love to see good no. of people in meetups. But sometimes we are not able yo join the meetup due to our personal or professional promises. This has happened with me many time because being entrepreneur that too when i am still in college is not a cup of cake. I have missed meetups due to my exam , due to my startup work and yes these are most important part of my life. But at same time contribution to google map is my interest, i feel really happy when a noobie is helped due to my contribution. So i was always tensed whenever i missed any single meetups.
Recently @JohnPeter has conducted meetup and i was happy that i would join the meetup after a long gap. but same time due to my professional promise i have left for Bangalore and wasn’t able to attend the meetup. And due to my exam last semester i have missed the meetup held by @TravellerG and missed the most famous durga puja of Mysore .
This was my story all of you have faced these type of issues in past or your fellow LGs.
I am here with the concept of Virtual meetup.
Yes virtual meetup is hybrid model of offline( Physical presence of participant) & online (Video Conferencing).
In this some of the local guide join and attend the meetup as classical offline method by physical presence at the place . And those who were not able to come to the venue they join the meetup through video conferencing.
By this way more no of participants can be attracted and the meetup really become exciting.
Thanks dear @RVDG for bringing this wonderful concept. Yes this will be great help for those who missed the chance to meet other local guides during the meetup. Always physical presence is good but when it is not possible, this is the best alternative way to connect and support.
Hope by your support we will try this in our coming meetups on 5th may 2019. Good luck my friend
A great concept !!! I missed a meet up that I really and truly wanted to attend. But I was stuck out of town. The virtual meet up would have been great though I would miss the taste (it was a food trail).
Has anyone done a virtual meet up ?? Please give your comments
We have hangout group of Gujarat we always do video calling during Meet up. But if the place is crowded then connectivity is very slow. So fully charged mobile and good network is required. This group is created by @NareshDarji
Thanks for sharing your experience. Let’s check the new way wether it works or not . And I would also like to invite you and all your team to join tomorrow’s virtual meetup atleast for 5 min any time between 11am to 8 pm .
In our community Meetups we are using Hangout video calling to sharing our knowledge with others. Many local guides in my community leaving in different cities and they are not able to attend meetup so we use hangout video calling.
Please make sure you don’t share any personal information on Connect. I’ve redacted your reply. Please review again our Local Guides Program Rules.
