What is the most interesting thing you've done as a Local Guide?

The Google Local Guides program has led me to a few adventures. I’ve always been a fan of Google Maps and the information you can gather from a restaurant. It’s a useful tool in cities than don’t have a lot of information about their restaurant scene otherwise, and from my experience can lead to a lot of local discoveries. This was true for me this summer, as I selected three taco spots in Ottawa and proceeded to have my very own taco tour, bringing along a friend.

It was a nice summer’s day and with the weather as close to Mexico City as it could ever be in Ottawa, we set off to our three spots. Google Maps had helped us find a few interesting spots spread out across the city and on the way we discovered a myriad of options, from more authentic options, to homemade and creative conceptions, such as duck confit and seared tuna. Being a local guide I was quick to review all the spots afterwards, and I can’t wait for the next food oriented tour Google Maps will help me create.
