Hello, my name is Karo Manukyan. I am from Armenia. This is my first post on Local Guides Connect, but it is worth mentioning that I have started to update Google Maps in my region more than 10 years ago.
At that time period I was working at a Telecommunication Company and the part of my job was business trips around the country. During the business trips I was often climbing the telecommunication towers for technical audits, and mostly the views from the towers were wonderful. As a result, I started to take pictures of them and suddenly it became my hobby. Since I was traveling a lot, I started to use Google Maps for my trips and realized that in my region the information of the maps is poor and inaccurate. As a consequence, I started to upload my pictures of different regions of the country via Panoramio.
Once, when I was climbing again the tower (with 30 meters height), my colleague, who was waiting for me downstairs, asked me to take a picture of him. During the shoot, one “angry” bird flew very close to me, of course I got surprised and I dropped my smartphone to the ground. Luckily it did not hit my colleague, but unfortunately I was left without my phone.
This was my little story, being as a Local Guide, from a small country - Armenia.
