What is the most interesting thing you've done as a Local Guide?

Adding images.
I take pictures of places rather than myself. Taking picture at present and later visiting the same place gives an idea of how the place has evolved over few days/months/years. This way I understand how the city has developed and what expectations are to be set.
Perceptions differ person to person so it is better to take pictures and let the person look at it and set expectations accordingly.

Figure 1 – Varieties of chocolates available at a Shop-Opera, too many varieties to decide!

This is one of my most viewed pictures, it has around 5000 views. The picture of chocolate shop taken in Paris.
It was our last day in Paris, and we had to buy chocolates, candies for our families back in India.
The moment I entered the shop, I was overjoyed. I saw so many varieties of chocolate bars, candies, boxes.
It confused me so much. I wished to buy the entire shop.
I wanted to show this picture to my mom, as she loves these chocolates but finds it difficult to name the exact one. That was when I decided to take this picture and send her and ask her to decide which ones I should buy. Though she told me few, but still when I returned to India she named few more.
I realized that if I had seen this picture before, I would have given her ample amount of time to select and decide which ones are priority chocolates. That was when I uploaded this picture, hoping to make a difference.
The moment I understood that this image had 5000 views, I knew I had made a difference, a difference that people knew what they should expect from this place, this place has so much to offer and taking all at once is not what a visitor is ready for. Just looking at this picture, gives us an idea of minimum varieties of candies, bars they have to offer us.

Figure 2 – Must drink wine at Cafes

This is an image of a wine which was offered to me and my team by one of the waiters at the restaurant.
The moment we entered at the restaurant, she knew we were tourist and had very less idea about the food and drinks of their country. As we communicated to her, it was already difficult for us to understand as she did not know English and we did not know French. The only way to communicate with her was with the help of google translate.
She typed the message in French and I translated it with the help of google translator in English and this is how she told me that if we did not mind, she would like to offer us good wine of her taste. This was new for us and such a kind gesture, that we did not deny at all.
As soon as I tasted the wine she offered us, I knew that it was one of my best decisions to take her offer. It was one of the finest wines I tasted.
She understanding our trouble to select the right food and drink and offering such a kind gesture made me realize that I should carry forward this. Since then, I continue to ask the waiters about their preferences rather than ordering for myself, and this has never proved to be a wrong decision for me.
This is how whenever I come across amazing food which is uncommon, I upload the images so that people can have an idea about what to eat and where to eat.
