What is the most interesting thing you’ve done as a Local Guide?

Hi guys!

I’d love to combine these two questions. When I open the app, it means I’m going to plan something interesting - I’m going to find joy. This is exactly what happened when I used the app to plan a trip to Sardinia last year.

It was a difficult time in my life. I had just had important surgery and I just wanted to run away from everybody. I opened the app and started to look for a place to go. The only criteria I had in mind was that it had to be a warm seaside location somewhere in Europe. I was looking around in the app and found a few restaurants in Cagliari with great photos of Italian pasta and pizza. It looked so tasty and made me hungry. When I saw all those pics, I felt happy and calm. My mood became better. It was like a sign. I decided to go to that wonderful place that I saw in the pictures, which turned out to be Sardinia.

Every step I made in Sardinia, I followed Google Guide’s tips. The week flew by, but the memories that I have of that place helped me survive the continuous grey landscape of winter in my home country. I am really looking forward to my next trip to load up on more memories.

For me, the Local Guides program represents…

  • safety
  • confidence
  • freedom
  • variability
  • fun
