For me it is very difficult to decide what is the most interesting thing that has happened to me as part of the Local Guides Community, for a moment I thought that the most interesting thing was to have met people from many countries that otherwise would not have happened; seeing that they were all proud of their countries and that we have many things in common regardless of the thousands of kilometers that separate us. Also in moments like now, where a certain virus is changing our routine and knowing directly the stories of the people who are living it is extremely fascinating … but that is not the most interesting thing.
I also thought that knowing the facilities of one of the most important companies in the world was something very interesting, especially because it was not only that, but I was also able to meet the minds behind the magic and the new tools that Google Maps would have. later … although that is not the most interesting.
Perhaps it is also very interesting when I help small places to add their business, store, restaurant, etc. to Google Maps, because it is very exciting for them to see how they are already on the internet and that anyone can now find them, which can make them grow. your business and increase your number of clients. As they mentioned in the Connect Live 2019 talks, it is difficult for small places to survive on rents and just as they were the owners of the cafeteria, I try to do my part with my community and surroundings, especially because I live in one of the most important capitals in the world … but that is not the most interesting.
Being a Local Guide is an excellent excuse to travel and meet new places to share my opinion on Google Maps, which is why I am now level 9… but I think that is not the most interesting thing.
I think what really seems most interesting to me and fills me with emotion is the new sense of belonging and pride that I have with Local Guides, not only with #TeamMexico when we share photos or organize a meet-up, but in general, I feel part of the community around the world and it is very nice that you can be friends through various social networks of people who also like to upload photos, videos, correct places, times, addresses, etc. and that you are not the only person with this hobby. Before, there was no community in my country and we all believed that we were the only ones, but in the last year, we have managed to get together and have organized outings on accessibility, parks, bike rides, etc.
Thank you Google Maps for doing those kinds of events, without a doubt what I experienced last year would not have been imagined even in my wildest dreams, I really hope to repeat the experience, I already have my VISA and my suitcase ready for this year.
