What is the most interesting thing you've done as a Local Guide? As an editor for a food magazine!

Hi Guys,

I like to share what I’ve done the most interesting thing as a local guide.

I was a foodie, but I hadn’t imagine one day I could be a magazine editor! Due to my experience as a Local Guide, I was invited to work as an editor for a Hong Kong travel magazine. My main job description was as a food guide showing 50 local street delicacies in Tainan to its readers.

My hometown Tainan, at the south of Taiwan, is a food capital of Taiwan, attracting more than thousands of tourists to visit, especially those from South East Asia.

The task wasn’t easy. I had to collect 50 restaurant information, including high quality photos, address, and to write recommendations in 2 weeks. Thanks to the experience of being a Local Guide, I utilize the resources on Google Maps, such as reviews and information listed, to make the task completed in time.

From the beginning, I was not good at sense of direction, therefore I often marked the shops before i head to visit the shops. Just in case I spent too much lost in the city.

Since become a Local Guide, I used to list down all restaurant information I’ve found, including telephone number, business time and reviews so on. And From this, I can easy to collect information for the magazine.

After shooting photos my photos were automatically uploaded to my google drive. I found it really convenient for sharing & editing anytime and anywhere.

When my boss sent me the printed magazine, I almost burst into tear. It 's my first time to be an editor. Thanks to Google Local Guide, I had a chance to be, and get my project completed in time.

Below are my TOP 3 favorite food in the city. Once you grab a chance to visit Tainan, don’t miss it.

#1 Liou Chien Beef Blenching Soup

Liou Chien is a prestige beef vendor in Tainan. The beef it offered is really fresh. As I know beef is delivery from butchers every early morning. Thinly sliced from a beautiful slab of beef, was cooked while delivery to your table. You will find how fresh it is while putting into your mouth!

Beef Soup is your top priority food in Tainan, you won’t regret!

#2 A Feng Scolded Milkfish thik Soup

A Feng was located on the Bao An Road, a food-filled hub in Tainan. The thick soup it offered was made of Sweet Potato powder and water, and the chewy balls is made by milk fish. The recipe of thick is often used in Taiwanese culinary.

#3 Tung Chi Tofu Pudding

Tun chi Dou Hua is a nation-wide known store, and it originally from Tainan. There is a sugar syrup that the dou hua sits in; either a sweet ginger syrup, or brown sugar syrup. Then, there are endless numbers of toppings/accompaniments that can go with it, such as beans and taros.
