Hi everyone,
I am Nghĩa from Vietnam. To apply for Connect Live this year, I’d like to share with you guys - friends that we’ve never meet - some about me
There are many interesting things I’ve done since I started to be a Local Guide from nowhere years ago. So, the Local Guide program is one of my motivations that makes me traveling around. There was one time when I traveled to a city in the countryside, which is not famous for tourists yet. There was a must-visit place on the hill near the city, I went there for half of the day for sightseeing. After wandering around for hours, I wanna pee but I saw WC’s signals nowhere to go. I know it should have at least 1 somewhere so, I go around and ask the staff and they pointed me the way but it took me almost 15 minutes to found it.
As you can see, the WC is small and they put it nowhere to be seen by tourists Maybe because there are not many tourists yet so the WC is not their priority to upgrade. Back to the point, from that time, I know how important it is to have a WC marked on the map but there are not many of it appeared on Google Map at that time, even now. So I started adding WC on the map whenever and wherever I see them missing. It’s a very simple yet important one that many people will need it, especially the foreigners when they come to a new country. Just a fun fact: adding WC to the map also gave me a lot of points as other places and I’m proud of what I’m doing as not many people on the world do it like me
it means I’m so unique haha
The other thing I’m proud of is I helped bring local food “to the world”. Of course, it’s not as big as it sounds haha but somehow, it’s still the same. I’m living in Vietnam where I believed famous for delicious cuisines. But unfortunately, most of the good things are like gemstones, you must find it to have it or try it, it will not accidentally appear on your way. Many street food vendors have their own hideout somewhere in the city, where the locals can find very easily but foreigners. Foreigners are usually going to tourist attraction places where there’re a lot of tourist traps and the taste of food there usually not as delicious as it should be. Seeing that, I jump in and help the street vendors pop up on the Google Map with a clear description of the food as well as how to reach the vendor. For so far, I helped over 90 small vendors in my city appear on the map and some of them become famous after a short time. Most medium/big companies/restaurants have their own budgets for advertisements so they can easily appear on the map or everywhere but small vendors cannot. Almost of them don’t know anything about the IT, internet and Google Map, of course, resulting in they cannot sell their tasty dishes for tourists (especially foreigners) and in reverse, tourists have to pay more to get the food that may not be delicious as it should be. I mentioned I bring my local cuisine to the world because when I jumped in to help them to meet each other, I’m already contributed my part that tourists from around the world who come to my city can have the tastiest dishes.
Here are some dishes I like the most ^^
