My first interaction with Google Local Guide was uploading a picture of a place even though it was not clear to me what I was doing. At some point, I realized I wasn’t just uploading pictures but rather I was helping people see how those places looked liked. This act became an hobby as I would quickly pick my phone to get a snap of places, add reviews and also rate those places.
I will gladly say i have helped a lot of persons in my local community in making decisions about places to visit. In January this year, my points earned from my contributions on the Google Map put me in the top 1% of Local Guides in Benin City and this really gladdens my heart because I know my contributions are making impacts.
As a Local Guide, my 285 photos have so far had about 57,000 view. This alone encourages me to do more, for I know the more contributions I make, the more impact it will have on travellers and my local community. I look forward to doing more because I have Passion for helping people.
I also added some places to the map, edited some other places and answered questions about places to help verify their existence.

Some of the interesting things I’ve done as a Local Guide are:
- Helping People find their Way
- As a Google Local Guide, I am also helping commercial activities grow by giving detailed reviews about business places on the Map.
- Helping As a Tourist Guide.
- Updating Reality on Ground.
Some of the places I added on the Map includes :
- Masgroovy Religious Shop: This religious store is buy my work place, but I realized it was a very uncommon store around Benin Metropolis. So I felt adding it up on the Map would bring ease in locating it by its customers and also help the business grow.
- Aguobiri Community, Southern Ijaw: Aguobiri is one of the major oil producing community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayalsa State, Nigeria but yet was no where on the Google Map. While on a personal visit to the Community, I had to find a locale to help me navigate through. By this, I was moved to add up this community to the map.
