Becoming Local Guide Level 7, I owe it to my visual memory. One of my habits is to take pictures of almost anything, except myself! I have shared more than 1000 photos with close to 2 million views on google maps from 12 countries on 3 continents. But most importantly, google maps has helped me to showcase the beauties of my home country, Iran, to the world with just a touch on the screen. Among all the countries visited and all the places I have been to, I choose Iran; since there are so many things needed to be said about this beautiful country with its nice and kind people. After 5.5 years, I returned home to Iran to visit my family and I realized I took so many things for granted living in the United States. There are not so many photos or reviews of places in Iran on google maps in English to be helpful for visitors. So, I rolled my sleeves up and got started! My first stop was a park in North of Tehran, the Capitol, with the view of Alborz Mountain and the palace of the late Shah of Iran. It was a beautiful sunny day in December and gladly not so many people around!
The next stop was a museum at Sa’ad Abad palace, showing the late- Shah’s of Iran’s lifestyle. The below vehicle is one of the cars he liked the most.
Later, I stopped at the traditional Bazar at the famous Tajrish Square and bought some dried fruits and spices. Boy, oh boy! The colors and smells would not let you leave the Bazar without buying or testing any of these.
And then I finished my day by rewarding myself, having a feast in a restaurant in close to a wonderful scenic view of nature and reunited with the best Kabob in the world! Persian Kabob!
You could tell from the photos that I am interested in travelling, nature, food, and sightseeing. Now, it is easy to say that Google Local Guide encouraged me to share what I feel is important to the world and express my opinion about the quality of food and services I receive wherever I go. The impact I am making by sharing, the feedback I receive from ratings and likes, and the responses from the business owners are only some of the best rewards to name a few. I have always had the dream to be a tour guide, and this program is giving me the opportunity to stay connected to the world and accomplish my dream.
