What is the benefit of being local guide ?

Writing a review is not about you. It is an opportunity for you to tell someone sitting in a hotel room or on a plane what they might expect when they go to the place you are reviewing. Often I find that it is easy for others to throw up a few words and rate something 5 stars or 1 star. But does that really tell the story? I find that with my “American” expectations most places really don’t match up with a 5 star experience. Yet many of the places I go match up with what the local market likes and they are full of people. I often find myself talking to the owner of an establishment and explaining how Google Maps works and why they need to develop a Google Business Page for their place. What surprises me is the lack of understanding these small businesses have and how they let bad reviews go without answering them directly (which you can). Getting and keeping good reviews is good for business and the best part is it is free. Doing my part to help build a real review of a place instead of just trying to make myself look good. Good reviewing!
