What is it about Argentinian Mate?

Hello guides! well, you may know about Argentinian’s strangest behavior: sharing a bowl full of herbs and water with a metal straw and past it on through one another.

??aaah yes! M A T E!

it may sound like a kind of drug but it isn’t really (or is it?) haha.

?

:coffee: So, we are talking an infusion, like tea or coffee with particular benefits for our health like:

?ANTIOXIDANTS! Saponins: These bitter compounds have certain anti-inflammatory and cholesterol-lowering properties.

?Polyphenols: This is a large group of antioxidants, linked to a reduced risk of many diseases.

  • Can Boost Energy and Improve Mental Focus

?Interestingly, the antioxidant power of yerba mate tea seems to be slightly higher than that of green tea (1)

SO YES, its a damn cool infusion!

we Argentinians are so proud of our mates and tradition that it has become a daily necessity in our routine.

its like coffee for Americans, but even greater haha.

?

but the most important factor about mate, it is the social effect it has. Sharing a mate with another friend, colleague, or simply someone you just met, increases and improves dialogue between people.

?

it is known that we Argentinians are friendly and kind. I truly believe we are, and mate it is just one of our many ways to show that.

Mate unites, ?

what do u think?

I hope u can visit Argentina soon and see it for yourself!!! ?

Here some photos about my mates around the continent:

‘‘It’s said to have the strength of coffee, the health benefits of tea, and the joy of chocolate.’’

Thank you for reading! ?

Un cálido saludo desde el extremo norte, mi hermana de la Guía local de Google.

Thank you for your wonderful essay and pictures touching on a beverage few in North America know about, let alone…have had the pleasure of sampling.

I am fortunate to have close friends in your country and have had close family members and friends love their visits to your beautiful part of the world. None excluded their experiences and enjoyment of yerba mate…so much so; I have my own bombilla and guampa to sample that which we are lucky enough to get up here.

I hope some day you are able to sample one of our beverages of choice here in Canada, the Tim Hortons Double Double.

Best of luck to you on your journey to becoming a Level 7 Guide.
