Being comfortable with creating and including links in your Connect posts (or replies) or adding into the T100 system is an essential skill to master. The idea of copying a link address and pasting it somewhere else or creating a new link is universal; so before going on with this post you may want to read some previous posts that were written by far more experienced LG’s than me.

Steps and videos explaining copying links from Maps to Connect using a Android device
- Part I am going to talk about links in general
- What they are
- The different types
- Why we need them- Part 2: Creating and using links specifically on Connect using an Android device
- Part 3: Ways to make creating and using links easier (both on and off Connect)

Part 1:
What is a link and how to work with them?
Everything on the internet has an address and you can create a link which is a reference to the location of something that can be viewed in your browser. It is not the thing itself, but it contains the information you need to find it (the address). Do you have a shortcut (something in your browser or on your desktop) that takes to your email or Facebook or a favorite website? These are all links. Usually we see an icon or some blue text (it may be underlined) that, when we click on it, it takes you to something else. It may open in the same tab or window or it may open in a new one.
There are links to all kinds of things
Etc.
You can create your own link to any of these. .
In the beginning an internet address looks like this
You can copy and paste it into your browser (Chrome or whatever you use) and it will take you to what is at that address. This is not very convenient and it is easy to miss part of the address when you copy it: so sometimes the address is also a hyperlink (link is short for hyperlink).

You can tell because the address is now a link, because it is now blue and may be underlined. This means you can click on it (exactly how you use it varies somewhat depending on your device and which app you are in) and it will take you to the same address as before. In this case it is to a photo of my Hummingbird feeder that I took today.
The link is perfectly usable, but it is long and kind of ugly and it really doesn’t tell you much about what it refers to.
The best solution is to type some text and then add the link to the text.
So here I type
My Hummingbird feeder
And then I add a link to it and it becomes this;
It is this method we use in Connect.
So how does the magic happen?
