Hi Everyone,
My name is Sumei, I am from Malaysia and I am the local guide level 7.
The story begins as a local guide, it all started on the last two years when I took a gap year and solo backpacking in a few SEA countries. I got a notification from Google Map asking to review a place that I have visited previously. Ever since then, I continued to contribute my stories, videos, and pictures with the community.
One of the best and proud to be a local guide is that I get to share our own photos, reviews and also helping to clarify the true facts for places.
We are acting as a “problem solver” to solve the queries from the others.
By just adding the photos to a specific place, it allows others to get to understand and manage the expectation for the particular area, state or country.

Furthermore, there are many hidden gem or places which might not be known by people. Being a local guide, we are able to explore and share those unknown yet beautiful places to people all around the world.
For example, one of the places which I shared recently to Google Map was Bookmark Cafe, a Malaysia’s local cafe with a special theme where they are able to make any latte art upon your request:
Besides adding the photos, as a local guide I am proud to provide our feedback and reviews for the places, shops, restaurants and etc I have been to. For Instance, I was having a bad experience in a used car trading company, I gave my feedback on Google Map and it seems that it was useful to the others. In a certain extent, being a Local Guide we get the rights to voice out our thoughts and indirectly impacting the local community.
Other than that, as a local guide, we are proud to assist people’s questions through my our own experience. There was once a person was asking about public transportation to a shopping mall, I was able to help and answered the person because I experienced it myself:
For the past two years of being a Local Guide, I enjoy myself interacting with people all over the world. I like receiving notification and queries from Google Map.
Whenever there is a question which I know the answer and I could provide the solution, I am always willing to assist. As people said, “Sharing is Caring”.
It is a milestone for me whenever I received positive feedback from Google. The happiness is real 
I believed that Google Local Guide community will be growing bigger and bigger in the near future. Of course, it will be impactful and insightful contributions to society globally. Having said this, I am always proud to be part of Google Local Guide community.
