Like I also told this on my video, my job as a city planner (or urban planner), making me care to share places in Google Maps. I reviewed whatever places I have been to. But mostly, I love sharing about hotels.
Why? Hmm not much reason, but you know, as a city planner, I often going to one city to another. Indonesia having more than 400 both cities and districts. Indonesia is huge. And when I must have a meeting outside of Surabaya, I don’t know which the hotel that has a good facility in that town.
Back in the old days, when I haven’t familiar with Google Maps yet, I will just depend on the hotel with a good reputation or famous in Indonesia. But, then again, when I come to a small city or small island, that place happens not having a famous hotel. So I just confused. Like, I asked myself, is this hotel okay? Is this hotel safe for a girl? Is the food in this hotel taste good. And so on.
Then, I ‘met’ Google Maps. It makes my life easier. I just simply google it. And read every review that I need about a hotel.
For me, when I need to stay in a hotel, I just don’t look at the review of the hotel itself, but even more than that. I will look into how the taste of food in there, how the staff serving the customer, location of the hotel, and so on. This is what inspire me to share or review hotels. I realize that a “temporary” home is important for some people.
And what I notice while review a hotel are listed below.
Rooms Atmosphere
This is the most important before I decide to book a hotel. So when reviewing a hotel in Google Maps, I’ll attach the photo of the room. You know some people don’t want a dark room, some people love large windows, access to the balcony, etc. And, that’s kind of photo can help us to understand how the atmosphere of the room. Just like this…
Bathroom
In the back day, I ever stayed in a hotel with a super small bathroom. No bath facility. No hot water. After I see review in google maps, I found that hotel having a bad reputation. So, I think this one matter to write on Google Maps. Of course, I talked to the staff about it too. Because some people need a comfortable when bathing, right?
Restaurant
The most favorite hotel for me depends on these 4 letters: FOOD. Yeah, we need to eat but eating something delicious make us happier, right? Sometimes the good breakfast makes us calmer, relax, and enjoy ourselves like we are at home.
Lobby
I know this is must be first to be seen when we arrived at the hotel. And at some point, how the lobby looks like is being something nice to review. When it comes to city planning, I also look at the detail sort of the architecture of a building. So, when I come to a hotel and its architecture is amazing, it’s just more make me happy to stay. I always amazed by the lobby with an artificial ‘waterfall’ and making the sound of water. It makes me relaxed.
Surrounding
Surrounding, I mean, is a hotel that I review having special facilities, like pool, or gym room, or bike to rent. Maybe the hotel has a big ballroom, so when people search for information through Google Maps they will find for sure. And the most I keep in mind, the hotel that I give 4 or 5 stars must be a clean hotel, nice architecture, beautiful view, strategic place, and whatever factor which is making a hotel more fun to stay.
