What I love to share most in Google Maps and why

I started adding pictures to Google Maps two and a half years ago when I started working for a school-based mentoring program called Seedling. Seedling matches volunteer mentors with children that have an incarcerated parent or a parent that has been deported. Part of my job is to support mentors as they go into the schools to form relationships with these children.

Since that 2016 picture, I’ve added pictures of numerous elementary and middle schools, where Seedling’s mentors support and become a friend to a child who has lost a parent to incarceration or deportation.

It might not look as delicious as steak fries or as glorious as the Rockies, but to me, these pictures make it a little bit easier for mentors to find their way to changing a young person’s life.
