I’ve been a local guide for a year or so. I love sharing food pictures the most.
I didn’t know anything about local guide back then. One day I was at that restaurant with my mother and our meal looked so good at that time I just wanted to take a picture of it. I took some. Then I was wondering where to share it. Somehow I got in the Google Maps app and shared it there. A week after that I got a mail from Google saying that my picture was seen, if I recall correctly, more than a hundred times. I was like really? Are you sure? I was then asked if I wanted to become a local guide. That was the beginning.
Google Maps is a great way for me who likes to take photos a lot to be useful to people. I’ve actually gone from being a nature photographer to a useful places, food and everything else’s photographer.
Every time someone I know is wondering where a place is or how a certain place looks like, then they go in Google Maps ,get the information they have looked for and say "thank you Google ", I get proud. If I happen to be the one that uploaded the information, I can’t help but smirk and think “Yep I just helped you. You’re welcome!”. Ha ha! Just kidding.
Being a local guide is being a guide to more people than you could think of. What’s more you can help places you love to promote themselves.
You can see some of my local guide pictures below. Sorry I had to take screenshots.
