It’s really exciting to have the opportunity, privilege and platform to share places on a global scale. Imagine how much exposure you can give to a place that might have been unknown to a lot of people, some of which may be in the environment or neighborhood, or may be passing by, but just because they didn’t know about the place, would miss out in the fun that the place/location might have in store.
I live in Abakaliki, a fast developing Capital City of Ebonyi State in South East Nigeria. Nigerians are very enterprising, and you see it in all that we do. You see it in that “unnamed street” that has a lot of small businesses on it, hair salons, restaurants, schools of different categories, hotels, and all manner of small businesses.
This is what I want and love to share about. I want the world to see our streets and roads and where they lead to, I want the world to know you can get Abacha, a local delicacy, somewhere in this neighborhood, I want to world to see us on the map and someone, maybe just passing by, will have the opportunity to come in and have a taste of what Nigeria, Abakaliki, and it’s locals have to offer.
I’m indeed very grateful to Google for the opportunity to add places on the map. I also wish the process of adding streets and roads be made much more easier for amateurs like me.
