My tryst with Google Maps started off when I wanted to visit a restaurant in my city and failed to get any information about it. This occurred back in 2015. Since then, I have seen Google maps and people evolve a lot. People, now, are used to reviewing the places more often.
Looking up to Google Maps just for getting directions is an outdated process now. Google Maps are no more a mere direction-providing application. It is the place to review a restaurant, to critique a shopping outlet, to tease people by posting the chef-special dish’s picture in the review, and to get thrilled as you level up. Google Maps is a mix of creativity and knowledge.
Initially, I started off by rating the restaurants I visited. Each time I was locating any place and found any place near-by that is not rated by me, I would quickly rate it. This trend made me reach different levels of Google Maps. Then, I came to know the pointing scheme of reviews and the tasks you do on Google Maps. I developed an interest and worked on contributing to Google Maps.
Of all things I do on Maps, I love to share my honest opinion with the community. I have seen a number of local guides writing one-liners in the reviews, just to increase their review-count. I know I would not be rewarded for each review I write, still, I do it as a hobby. Those one-lined reviews on Google would generally confuse me about the places. I always desire a nice and crisp description of the place. So why not contribute on my own? This zeal is still within me. Moreover, the other small contribution adding up to the detailing is that section wherein we have to choose our answer from yes /no /not sure. I was fascinated to see this level of fine detail in the questions, and love to answer this too. In this world of fake promotion of eateries and shops, I love to contribute in a healthy way. It’s nice to see that many guides along with me are ready to share their true opinions and extend their support for Local Guides Community. May we all help to make G-Maps more strong!
