What I Love Sharing On Google Maps

While I travel to a few places and countries across the world, I experience so many things, especially as a black person from Africa. Africans and our perspective on things is different. We usually do not look so much in detail, generally, but still a few people love detail and that is what I want to bring closer to them. Some of the places it’s the good reception, equality and care, at other times it is racism and being undermined for who I am as a black young man from Africa. I love to tell those stories, not in a sense that demotivates or markets places in the bad ways, but to bring other people to speed on what to expect at the different places once they decide to choose them from their stay.

When I stay at a hotel, I try to make sure I take pictures of the details such as the toilet seat, size of the entire bathroom, probably if there is an iron in the room, the bed and size of the room, to give the people looking to stay at those places a comprehensive feel of what they should expect. I have booked a hotel before in Kigali and to my surprise the room was extremely small. This is because nobody helped me get this information and I want to change that for all places I visit.

On the other side I love to answer as many questions on maps as possible, because I know how at times one can get really nervous when they have an appointment at a place, but the location looks confusing, or they do not know what to carry. These people need real time answers. When I receive a question notification, I open it immediately and if I can understand the language I answer immediately. This helps relieve stress for so many people and answer the important questions for the users.
