what I love sharing on Google maps the most and why

I travel a lot and sometimes it just happens that you need to know if there is a place where you could find something specific. Could be anything from a restaurant where you could find a particular cuisine or a place nearby where you could buy something. The best feature of maps is that you don’t need anyone to locate it first of all. For e.g when I went on a tour to Andaman Islands, I heard that the pearls you get there are genuine and not expensive as well. Someone advised me to buy only from a brand called ‘Sagarika’ but since I did not have a vehicle, I used to walk most of the time and with maps it was a breeze locating these places as sometimes even the locals are not pretty sure about some places. Google maps was itself like a well-versed guide and I had no trouble locating places and since I make a note of places for future reference(for e.g. to find it the next time I go there), adding the details into the map served me that purpose as well. I even figured a cool recently opened bistro near by the place I stayed which is not so common in that remote island and the photos and notes I added about it got a lot of likes from possibly other traveler’s who used the maps to hangout in the same place I contributed to maps. It’s really cool because its not bothering like a social network or other channels where you have to depend on any specific community or person but the contributions are from any one(including oneself) using it which makes it live and most up-to-date through crowd sourcing information. So, as a keynote I love to share information about interesting places, shops, restaurants etc., on maps that are most useful for other travelers the same way it turned out to be useful for me when I traveled.
