Being able to share on Google Maps has given me a platform to express two passions I have – my country and service excellence.
I have a passion for being a South African. I love my country and I love travelling in my beautiful country. I can’t think of any place in this country that is not beautiful in its own right. Even down to the many informal settlements. Whether its the breathtaking views of Table Mountain in the south, the silence and tranquility of the bushveld in the north, or the buzz of the cosmopolitan cities all in between. It is so important for me to share the places and experiences I have had with firstly, my fellow South Africans and secondly with the millions of foreign visitors who visit our sunny shores. Of particular importance are the lesser known, hidden gems, off the beaten track.
My other passion is service excellence. I have spent my entire career in the retail industry, in one form or another. I can proudly say that I was trained by the best in the business, a 100 year old company that is one of the top retailers in South Africa. So, needless to say I know what to expect from others as far as customer service and service excellence goes. I feel that as a society we have become satisfied with mediocre service offerings, and that is just not on. Through Google Maps, being a Local Guide has given me the opportunity to give credit where credit is due and on the flip side point out where improvement is needed.
