What do I love sharing most on Google Maps? Real life! I love sharing the experiences of things I actually do. I know there is plenty of value in Local Guides who set out to find the “Best Venison in Thousand Oaks” or the “Tastiest Ice Cream Parlor With a View of a Snow-Capped Mountain,” but there’s also something to be said for those who go about their regular lives, visiting the regular places they would have anyway, all while contributing to their community through Local Guides. The places I review are the places I was going to go anyway, they are always places I decided to go to within my plans, not places I planned to go to as my decision. This makes my reviews more real and, I think, less biased. I don’t go in with specific expectations, and I think that makes my reviews more transparent and useful to others.
