In a country like mine, the rate at which information is made available through technology is somewhat slow, take for instance in some western countries they already have points on the internet where people drop reviews about a certain product or service, such information is really vital because it helps people to make informed decisions. Because such points are not really available in my country I have made it a duty as a local guide to always review products and services I experience from different locations. This is what I really love to share on Google Maps because it gives me a lot of joy when I get to read back from people that such information had helped or the service provider in that location responding to the review with a new development they have put in place because of my review.
A case in point was when I visited the Aramex office in Lagos to pick up an item that was shipped in from the United States, I noticed some discrepancies in the service I received, in other to help others avoid such pitfall I launched my Google Map when I was back home and left a review, the vendor traced me by my name, apologized and put a measure in place to make sure that am served well the other times I have dealings with them.
Another case was when I visited Ghana and a particular hotel tried to dupe us ( I and my Fiancee), the Hotel had really wonderful pictures on their web listing but the total opposite was the case when we arrived, it was almost a case of a hotel that plan with kidnappers and robbers to come to attack you in the night while sleeping, I took all the necessary security measure to ensure we were safe just for that night because we arrived really late and couldn’t go back. I had to take as many pictures as I could before leaving the next morning, I had all the pictures posted Google Map and wrote about my experience at the hotel. I was really glad when I got an email from Google telling me that my post had helped more a thousand people that would have been victims.
I love to share information that helps people and am really glad I could do that through Google Maps.
