Hello local guides!
My name is Maria Fernanda and I am from Bogotá, Colombia. I am a local guide since 2016. At first, I did some reviews and published some pictures in Google Maps very occasionally, but over time I began to interest about being a better local guide. By the end of 2017 I had reached level 5. However, in 2018 something changed in my life, I decided to quit my job and follow my dream of traveling the world. It all began in September 2018 and I am still traveling! I have been in more than 15 countries in 8 months approximately. Since then, I have been more and more passionate about being a local guide. I feel as a travel reporter and I want to share my opinions and pictures of all places that I visit in my trip and that way help others travelers to better choose where to stay, what to do, what to visit and where to eat. I am very serious about that. I like to do very specific reviews about the places where I stay (mostly hostels). I try to talk about the location, the staff, the facilities in the room and some additional services that they offer.
When I go to a restaurant I always take good pictures of the place and specially the dishes. Sometimes, when it is allowed, I take some pictures of the menu and that way people can know about the prices and the dishes they will encounter. Besides, I like to publish a good review of the place talking about some good dishes, the atmosphere of the place, the service and if necessary some details about location and prices.
Sometimes when you are traveling, you have plenty options of places or activities to do and not a lot of time, so you have to do very good choices of what to visit to optimize your time and resources. For that reason, a detailed and sincere review of a local guide is very valuable for people and I am very aware of that because I also trust in other local guides to make my choices in my travel. And this is why I make an effort to do good reviews that can help other people. When doing a review of places of interest I try to mention the entry prices, the best time of the day to visit it, and some details of what people will see without being a spoiler.
Thanks to this trip and my job as a local guide I have discovered a passion to be a travel reporter and I even take it as my current job. A job that I really enjoy and that allows me to learn a lot. Since a time ago, I decide to write all my reviews in English (my native language is Spanish) to practice my english skills and more people can read my opinions. I have also improved my photography skills and most important I have discovered that I can have a more meaningful life by doing the things that I love.
