What I love sharing most on Google Maps by KumiOsaka

What I love doing most on Google Maps is adding an English translation to reviews posted online in Japan.

As you may already know, most Japanese aren’t so good at English.

But if we use Google Translate, it is easy to attach an English translation to Japanese text.

In order to share information locally we usually post in Japanese, but it can be difficult for foreigners to read Japanese easily.

Japan is becoming more and more popular as a tourist destination, and numbers are increasing year by year.

Next year Tokyo will be hosting the olympic games and tourism is expected to increase greatly during the games.

Reviews with English translations will surely be useful to the majority of travelers during their stay.

They can find local opinions by simply searching on Google maps, and can easily enjoy sightseeing, delicious foods and cultural sites with this information.

Anywhere in the world, you can access Google Maps to find great sightseeing destinations, restaurants, hotels and much more.

What a wonderful way to explore the world online!

早速のレスありがとうございます、お返事が遅くなりすみません。

英語化についてですが、おっしゃる通り「レビューに自分で書いた日本語のものと、英語に翻訳したレビューの両方を掲載すれば良いのではないか」との提案で、まだ実施している訳ではありません。

実際にはGoogle翻訳は直訳なので部分的に意味不明な翻訳になる可能性が高く、そのまま利用するのは無理があると思いますが、英語が苦手な人にとっては日本語のみよりも良いのではないかと考えました。

実はこの提案はコネクトライブ参加申込のために考えて、自分が一番共有したいものとして初めて投稿しましたが、既にホットな話題だったんですね。

東京には行くこともありますので、ミートアップにも是非参加できればと思います。

ところで、Hiroyukiさんはレベル10なんですね！すごいですね。

Google Mapには異なる言語で書かれたレビューを自動的に翻訳してくれる機能があります。海外のどこかでレビューを見るとその効果を実際に見ることができるので、一度試してみて下さい。その上でですが、やはり日本語と他国ごとの翻訳には様々な課題があります。英語に翻訳しやすい日本語の書き方など様々なテクニックを共有できる話題だと思いますので、これからも意見交換に参加していただけると嬉しいです。

日本語コミュニティにはLv10の方もたくさんいらっしゃいますし、10ではなくてもとても素晴らしい活動に取り組んでいる方がたくさんいらっしゃいます。会話に参加して、気軽にお話を聞いてみて下さい:-)
