I have started using Google Maps approximately 2,5 years ago. I do not remember exactly what I was looking for in the Google Search. One day, noticing the stars next to the place, I was curious about what is in the description of this block on the right side of Google search. After reading it, I thought that I could also leave feedback on the visited places and I could talk a little about the local sights of the city in which I grew up.
Google Maps allows you to add reviews as well as rate a place, which helps people to get more feedback about a particular place. I liked to shortly describe the place I’ve visited before, my feelings and impressions. One of these places was an educational institution where I completed the courses for camp workers. I thought that it would be great to provide a feedback to the institution and evaluate this place, then other people will be able to see this place on the map and learn more about it. In addition, the GoogleMaps system awarded more points when you wrote a detailed review. The process was so interesting that I went to the local grocery stores, parks, natural places, evaluating and providing feedback to everything around me.
So, visiting different places, I left ratings and reviews about what I saw. Also, most of all I liked that you could upload photos from places that I visited, and later found that you can add places to the map yourself. For example, visiting an University hostel, an University building in another city, it was interesting to wander in the university building, through the streets of the city, visit local sights taking shots of everything. I woke up in the role of the researcher. Of course, it was impossible to regularly go and take pictures, because of studying and other duties; simply I did not have enough time to engage GoogleMaps.
When I found out that you can add new places to the map, I immediately tried to add a place where I often spent time in the summer - horizontal bars on the beach. This place was not on the map, and I tried to add it. Probably happened, I do not know. I remember there were difficulties with choosing a place category name. System offered inappropriate category for this place. Also, for myself, I found it useful to report on the features of some places, for example the availability of wheelchair access, equipped entrance for disabled people etc because that might help people be more informed about places. By adding photos and new places, I discovered the new features of GoogleMaps.
Summarizing, you may notice that Google Maps is my hobby during my free time from study / work, and sometimes I love to explore local areas and places of interest to share with other people. GoogleMap can serve as a good opportunity to create various maps to control the extraction of mineral resources of the Earth, analyzing the air frequency in the regions, the temperature regime in the oceans to prevent global warming, etc. Also with the help of Google Maps it would be possible to create maps where ecologically polluted and clean zones of the planet Earth would be marked. I really like to share with others the experience gained, and I think I could probably share photos and assessments not only of local zones, but also of foreign objects in the future.
