I see myself as an artist and my photographs as my art. I guess I was inspired by the pop art movement where everyday humdrum objects were elevated to high art.
For example: a building that houses an insurance company. Yes a photograph will help people find a place on google maps and that’s the purpose of it all, but what if that photograph had really good composition, perfect lighting and a perspective that highlights the building’s clean lines and facade. Something the architects spent a lot of time and effort on.
I think it was Apple that first started utilizing good design in their products and I believe this philosophy has been picked up and incorporated into a lot of google products. The phone I use is a google pixel 2 XL. Great design, functional, sturdy and fabulous design elements. I see myself helping turn google maps into something just as well designed and artistic with my photographs.
