Google maps and Local guides have given an opportunity to be heard, to be seen and to express. My journey throughout as a Local guide has been adventurous. I love everything on Google Maps.
First and foremost adding reviews both good and bad to the places I visit may it be restaurants, theaters, Government offices, amusement parks, are something which I feel as most important and all the local guides should make it a point to do so that others can have a fair idea about the place they are about to visit through the eyes of the Local guides.
The pictures to the reviews are also a definite advantage and are my all time favorites, So much so that now a days I look at the menu of the restaurants later and take the pictures of the place first. Ha Ha Ha. A fact and a reality.
Then the next best thing which I like about being a local guide is ability to add new places in my city. If I am visiting a place which is not on the maps I make it a point to definitely add the same at the earliest, so that the next person searching for the same can be helped.
The change of address of certain wrongly added places, correcting the phone numbers and working hours and of course giving answers to the questions are also my all time favorite activities.
I have a request to make for the admin that there should be some system of giving credibility to regular Local guides and approving their pending requests on priority and also to give some preference to the Local guides of higher levels.
