Hi!, I am Luis Eduardo y I am from Colombia. What I love most to share in google maps are tourist sites in my country, photos of cities and interesting places. I’m going to tell you a story. I was in the San Agustín Archaeological Park. Located in the department of Huila, in the municipality of San Agustin. In this park the vestiges of the ancient San Agustin culture are taken care of. In the park, tourists can visit several places such as Alto de los Idolos, Alto de la Piedras, the archaeological museum, the fountain of the lavapatas and the forest of the statues. Everything is located at a height of 1730 meters above sea level.
When I was walking through the forest of the statues, I felt a magical air, full of silence but at the same time I felt the presence of that millenary culture that carved these wonderful tall and representative statues. Then, on the ascent to Alto del Lavapatas, it was thick and raining and hot, which made the road more interesting.
To understand San Agustín’s cultural legacy, it is necessary to know its territory as a fundamental part of its cosmic thought. Southern Magdalena is a region with special characteristics; It is delimited by two of the main mountain ranges of Colombia called Central and Oriental, barely separated by the valley of the Magdalena River, which has just been born in the Valley of the Papas or Papayacta (Colombian Massif) and descends canyoning and sinuous, with a large flow that is constantly increased by multiple tributaries: Mazamorras, Garnets, Bordones, Granadillos, Orange trees, among the main ones.
I invite you to visit this wonderful site, it will take you 3 or 4 hours to explore it and then when you leave the park, visit the municipality of Pitalico, where you will find various day and night activities to enjoy.
