What I love most sharing on Google Maps...

What I love most sharing on Google Maps is permanently closed places!

Isn’t it infuriating to get to the most beautiful avant-garde bistro bar you’ve been looking forward to get all day because of the wonderful photos shared on Google Maps and find a sign of “To Let” at the door?

I’m a foodie, I cannot deny it and I won’t. My life consists in: food, exercise and work. In that order? Possibly. I am always thinking about food and what I’m going to eat next, even while I’m eating. It’s beyond, I know. But it’s a pleasure we humans can’t run from so I might as well embrace it.

When I was an omnivore like most of you, the easiest thing was to pop into wherever you smell food. But since I started to stick to a plant-based diet, it is not that easy to find options for me.

We are very lucky in London that most places have an alternative or two. Some even starting to have separate vegan menus (the dream). This is not the case when I’m abroad and they haven’t even heard of the word vegan. They repeat it like a parrot with a strange face. They think it’s vegetarian. It takes too much explanation and the language barrier doesn’t help.

Google Maps has been tremendously helpful when looking for places to eat, but specially when I’m travelling.

It has happened to me a few times that I have found a perfect match for me, which is rare, I walk or take public transport to get there and I find it closed.

Instead of letting my “hanger” get the worst of me I decided to be of service to the community. If this has happened to me I wouldn’t like it to happen to anybody else. Click, photo uploaded of the closed place, reported as permanently closed.

It feels very fulfilling knowing that you have made a difference and that you’re contributing to make Google Maps more accurate and useful for everybody.

That is what I love most sharing on Google Maps.
