Picture this is you will; you’re in a bind to find a cool restaurant or bar to hang with some new friends, a date, or long-lost acquaintances. The issue is that sites that rhyme with “Help” or “Grip Divisor” are filled with junk and paid search results all leading you to those crummy corporate run food chains. What to do you ask? This is why I love Google Maps, you get to see local guides who are real people with a built up trust from Google thanks to their ranking system. Instead of getting stuck at the “Feastcake Laboratory” you can find that swanky Tapas restaurant that is only known by the locals, rather than settling for mediocre coffee at “Tarlucks” you can find that locally sourced roaster that also has a storefront with bakery-fresh croissants made in-house.
Needless to say I’m all about the eating local, supporting local business, and boosting a local economy rather than buy into the corporate machine that’s killing “Mom and Pop” businesses. These are real people who care about the food and drinks they’re serving you and take customer praise and criticism seriously. If you think ab out it there’s no executive from any of the above restaurants I listed that are actively seeking customer input, they input they care about is what will make them the most money with no intention on keeping their product’s quality and customer satisfaction in mind. Doris on the other hand, who owns a bakery down the street from you, puts her love and soul into the products she creates and sells, I guarantee that extra dollar you spend on the sourdough from her is going to be worth it in the long run.
Finding these spots is what I love using and contributing to Google Maps, my hopes in my reviews are that they are entertaining enough to keep people hooked and reading them while also giving them options that they can’t find elsewhere.
