Hi! have you seen the benefits to the people when you post about a new business or place that you find? It has two sides of the same coin. Like user of google maps, its common that you search about a restaurant or some place to hangout, and you can find a lot of places in the map. but for the other side, there is someone very excited because somebody went to his/her new business and now its on google, it’s part of the restaurants on the map!!
I love to make posts about almost everything, restaurants, natural, cultural and touristic places, malls, libraries, etc. Each place its important and that would help to the people at the moment to search about specific place to visit. That is a great motivation for me.
But that its not the real part of the story that I’m going to talk about…
One day, I was walking in my city downtown, when i found an interesting little restaurant, with a paintings on the walls. For my curiosity, i decided to entry. It was very comfortable and friendly place, so I took some photographs to upload as a local guide, but i didn’t find the restaurant on google. So that I looked the address, schedule and correct name of the restaurant, and after that, I registered it like a new business on google maps. You can say, “well, its common to post about new places, it doesn’t have something extraordinary” and that’s right. But when I returned few weeks later and I could see that this time the restaurant had more clients, and the employees there were even more friendly, I felt something different, something was going well.
I heard that somebody was talking about the comments and photos on google maps, and some employee said “I don’t know what happened, we only appeared on google, and now the people come very often. We are vey grateful”. Like a curious person that I am, I joined the conversation and asked about it, and I added the comment that the local guides usually post about new places or contribute to places with photos or comments (to say some examples), and that i knew about it because i was one of them. He looked me and he changed his expression, he was almost crying saying “I’m really grateful about that someone posted about my restaurant, its very important for me because the people can find it easily now, and it’s working better, I don’t know about how the business appear on internet, but I really appreciate that someone helped me”. That moment was very emotive for me because I was one of the people who posted about his restaurant, he was thanking me although he didn’t know it!
Now, I know that posting a photo or whatever contribution as a local guide, is not just another publication between the sea of posts, maybe it has great importance for someone, maybe someone is grateful for the contribution that you made (to almost cry of happiness). And its the main reason why I am motivating and proud to post and contribute as a local guide… we can make differences
