Hi @Jeff08er ,
Welcome to Connect and thanks for sharing with us ! : ]
Regarding your first inquiry, please be noted that the limitation to 1000 photos would only apply to Connect (you can chec further in the post Uploading a photo on Connect? Read these guidelines first)
On the other hand, for Google Maps the rule above does not apply, as I would higly recommend you to check the handy post What photos should I share on Google Maps?, where you may find most of the needed information - as also to answer the second part of your inquiry (regarding retireving photos from Google Maps), please be noted that you can check the informative reply that @ErmesT kindly compiled.
Please keep in mind that the Idea exchange category would mainly be utilized on Connect for Local Guides to share their feedback and ideas with our team to tell us about a way to improve the Local Guides program. (you can check the article How do I use the Idea Exchange?)
I have relocated the current post to How-tos board, as it would be the more suitable one to the main subject + edited a bit the title of the post should Local Guides understand better the subject. (to learn more about each topic you can check the interesting read on basic etiquette on Connect with 14 helpful tips for using Connect, as well as our monthly Introduction post)
