I have been conducting a research since I came across this beautiful fruit in the North of Benin Republic here in west Africa. I believe we also have this fruit here in Nigeria but I can’t just locate it for now. It’s a fruit that opens up on its own when it is matured and ripe. The inside of it has some whitish succulent stuff in it and a glossy dark brown seed. I haven’t ever tasted it,so I can speak about the taste.
It really isn’t a popular fruit really. I believe it’s not in abundance around as well. I used Google lens and it gave me a name akie
I asked the French speaking west Africans and I was told it is called fromagée. I could add this on crowdsource and also feed in the local name. I believe it’s strictly tropical and also grows wild. What’s it called at your ends, especially in India Pakistan and maybe south America.???
Happy guiding
Cheers
