For me local guides are the weivers of google maps. Who makes it possible for everyone to get genuine information of places with their contributions of photos, reviews, ratings and other details.
My jouney to the google maps started 4 years back when I was preparing for competetive exam. Exam was covering syllabus of physical geography, for that I go through google maps to get factual information.
By and By knowing more features on google maps, I become an active local guide after my first contribution of adding a sports ground near by my home to google maps. After that I started contributing regularly by adding places, giving reviews and ratings and with some good photos.

Google maps is a family. And local guides are the members of its family. So its become the duty of every local guide to make their family more larger, accurate, accessible and informative.

I think local guides are not bound only to give their feedback . They can use their knowledge of google maps to educate people specially children, who are from remote areas and can not afford costly books which gives geographical information of the world.Google maps is a platform which can provide them virtual knowledge without any cost.

This is one of the alternative use of the google maps and there are many more. If i get selected for Google Local Guides Summit 2020. It will give me a platform where I can get views and ideas of other local guides and where i can gives mine too.
