Suppose a new shop in my area people don’t know about the shop and hence less customers in beginning. The shop gets used to only those people who visit physically from nearby road.
Why not bringing the shop on mobile phone of people? That is what Google maps did!
Limitless people can view the shop on Google maps. Local guide who visited can help shopkeeper to register on Maps, post review ratings and talk about the uniqueness of the shop or about unique food taste!
Soon shop can gather a good customer base just because they were listed shop on Google maps.
Shop owner will not have to wait for weeks to gather crowd in front of the shop.
Even person 5 to 10 kilometre away can know about the shop on Google map easily.
This is what I saw that many small businesses have benefited by just listing the shop on Google map.
In India, we have 1.5 crore+ of Kirana shops ( Retail grocery shops ). They are yet to come on Google Maps. If they come to google maps, it will be helpful for them to compete with Malls or supermarket.
Other thing is : The listing of office addresses, places on maps. New person in City is fooled by Autorickshaw or Taxi driver. Purposely, long route is taken by them and passenger is charged more. If local guide lists the places on google maps, user can select a route and thereby save from fraud.
Most vital part of Google Maps is : Listing of Toilets! People in India are the most benefited by the same as already very less toilet and if the address goes in the hand of Users, they can easily reach to toilet, specially a Working Woman who face a lot of problem in Urban cities!!
This is the Picture I took of a small shop owner who hardly earns 2-3 Dollars per day. On his income, whole family survives. What if such shops come on google maps? The result will be - marketing of businesses of those people who are left behind financially!
