I joined as a local guide about five years ago when I was travel 1000 km from my home town to another city on my motor Bike. Google Map Helps me a lot with the regarding Incoming Petrol Pumps, Hotels and Food Points and Google Map suggest my best route for My Destination. Whenever I visit a restaurant or Coffee shops and takes pictures and add to the maps. Sometimes I do the review.
The local guide program is a great pleasure for me. The local guides program is a very good opportunity offered by Google maps which helps visitors to be informed about a place that they are willing to visit. I am happy to help others discover new places and get new impressions and information.
Local guide program means many things to me and I’ll start by saying it has given me an opportunity to voice my opinions on a wide variety of places. As I go through the world day to day I eat at different places and enjoy different places. The local guide program has given my voice a platform to show others what I have enjoyed
It’s about passion for adding places to the maps. It’s not actually mapping, it is contributing to the already existing maps by adding places, comments, information, and pictures. It is about rating these places and answering questions about how they are and what they do. It is called crowdsourcing.
You will do this because you enjoy this and you get benefits from the time you use and other people will benefit because they receive information about a place in advance so they can decide whether to go/use this place or not.
It is also an interesting marketing platform as normal pictures, photospheres and street view images are available on the platform for people to see.
