I am a young PR professional on a mission to help people find the places worth discovering around the world and in my community. That is one of the reasons the Local Guide Program means so much to me.
The program gives me a platform and avenue to showcase one of my life purpose of helping and increasing the relevance of people in the world and in my community.
The contents – videos, pictures and texts – posted on Google Map have assisted thousands of people to find their way around the city. Also, being able to answer questions and enquiries bring in no small way great satisfaction and fulfilment. Mere words can’t import the satisfaction that comes with being a ‘digital guide and compass’ to people one may never meet.
In addition, the Local Guide program gives me the platform to save lives. Choosing which hospital to go for treatment is certainly a choice of life and death.
I am certain that many people have used Google Maps to make consequential decisions like where to go have a date, spend the weekend, lodge during a trip, patronise a service, purchase goods, drive through, or simply browse through digitally.
The program has also helped me to put the richness and the beauty of where I visit on the global map. In a developing country like Nigeria and other African countries, if not for Local Guide program, getting locations and exciting places on the map would be a herculean task.
As a local guide, seeing how I am able to feature small businesses and put them on the map and then having the potential to compete with conglomerates and big businesses for traffic and business give me deep satisfaction and happiness.
Of course, one can’t quantify the joy of helping tourists to explore my city with ease. Thanks to the local guide program which makes me be able to help tourists to know the right and the best tourist attractions to visit. When tourists visit my city, local businesses smile to the bank and the economy booms.
Indeed, being on the Local Guides Program have created more avenue for me to help people, add value to my community and humanity in general; and help people from all over the world.
