What does the Local Guides program mean to you

Sharing Experiences: A lot of persons aren’t able to travel, and Google’s maps feature is a good opportunity for them to experience different cultures and lifestyles outside of their own. I recall when I was much younger and google streets (Google Earth) came out. At that time running along the streets of some foreign country I’ve never been before was my favorite thing to do. Now it’s my turn to share my experiences with others who have never visited Jamaica. As a google local guide, I consider it an important role to let others know the joy of what you’ve experienced (or even bad experiences) in a country or location they’ve never been to.

Educational: Google maps most definitely provides a learning opportunity for its readers. As a Googe Local Guide, when we fill our description of a recently visited area, we provide accessible information for potential visitors or researchers who can use this knowledge. That then brings up the issue of why it is also important to provide Transparent and authentic information.

I enjoy the thrill of sharing: Some of us as local Guides love to tell or show off. My trip to The Grand palladium was one of the best experiences I’ve had as a local guide. It was the time we were having a Family trip, and I was blessed enough to be able to plan the entire thing. I enjoyed reflecting, commenting, reviewing, praising and even scrutinizing different areas of the unprecedented Family trip. So it’s not just about sharing for fame’s sake, but I also share because I like the feeling it gives me.

Hello @Wiseshot and welcome to Connect!

It seems that this is the post for your Connect Live 2020 application. I just wanted to let you know that I have moved it to the Local Stories section where applicants should submit their response. You can find more information about the different sections of Connect in the article What are the Connect topics?.

Hello @Wiseshot You might have wondered what happened to the first post you wrote, as that all of a sudden disappeared, right? Well, actually, it was accidentally caught in our spam filter (which is quite strict out here). I have now released it and merged it with your other post, to avoid that your Connect account would get flagged as spammer.

The result is that the content of your first post is now added as a comment to your second post. If you want, you can remove the content of that comment by clicking the ‘…’ at the bottom of the comment and then simply removing the content there (or replace it with something like “content removed as it was an accidental duplicate”).

Sorry @Wiseshot I just noticed that I merged your posts the wrong way (compared to what you intended)…Anyway: to change the category, please do not create a new post, but edit the post: click ‘…’ and then ‘Edit post’. Then you can change the label to Local Stories.
