Since I started using Google Maps, I have admired the work of the founding team on this technology. It has allowed me to get to know many places virtually, such as the houses of some friends, touristic places, and even the warehouses where I send the packages of my online purchases.
Truly, Google Maps is amazing. It is fascinating how through this tool you can serve many people, directly or indirectly, when they request information about touristic places or other places to visit.
I have created entries for several businesses that little by little people have found on Google Maps. I have also discovered the menus of various restaurants, read people’s opinions on the places I want to visit, and especially guided myself through directions in cities and countries where I had never been, allowing me to smoothly get to my destination.
In my city, many friends ask me for hotel recommendations, as well as places or touristic sites to visit. I have managed to refer them by sending addresses through Google Maps and becoming a Local Guide through Google. This is very interesting and rewarding for me.
My best experience has been my honeymoon trip, for which my wife and I ventured outside of Honduras. We prepared our vehicle, and without a specific route we started the journey. On our path we searched on Google Maps for different cities, touristic places, hotels, gas stations, restaurants, and souvenir shops, among other places of interest alongside our tour. On the third day, we finished our trip in the majestic national park of the ancient Mayan city Tikal, in Petén, Guatemala. Easily guided by Google Maps, our adventure was an unforgettable experience.
