The Local Guides program for me is a platform for consumers/travellers to make better choices and more well informed decisions in today’s world. For the generation whereby vacations are free & easy with no packages to tie you down, local guides literally act as a virtual guide for them when they are in foreign land. It replaces the responsibilities of a physical guide on a tour bus giving recommendations and reviews of places. It also enables people whom are passionate and sincere about their food, places and culture to give honest feedback. The Local Guides program basically connects people to what they need.
A foreigner in a land searches for a restaurant serving local authentic cuisine, with the help of a Local Guide review on a few places he can narrow his list down. If he has any questions, he asks them and gets a reply in a short notice from a network of local guides. Eventually, he makes his decision with the information placed in front of him.
Thus for me, the local guide program allows people who are passionate in certain areas to step up to provide honest feedback, sharing and opinions to people of the masses. This platform also incentivizes the internet users to use google to as a search engine tool as then this will allow them to have access to more information through the Local Guides Program.
